As a response to the rapid population
growth of the Villa Rica area Carroll County School System opened VRMS
in August 2003 serving students from the 6th - 8th grade. VRMS is
located five miles outside of the city limits of Villa Rica on the
eastern border of Temple, Georgia. Its feeder schools include
Glanton-Hindsman and Villa Rica Elementary. Currently, VRMS enrolls
approximately 520 students. The student population is diverse
including: Whites -61%; Blacks – 28%; Hispanics – 5%; Multi-racial -4%
and others -2%. Approximately, sixty percent of VRMS students
participate in the Federal Free and Reduced lunch programs. Students
receive a variety of instructional support services including special
education, ELL, and Gifted (Quest).
VRMS is the third largest of six middle
schools in the county and employs 61 faculty members: 36 certified
teachers, 2 administrators, one guidance counselor, and various other
support staff personnel.
At VRMS, students may elect to participate
in a range of academic clubs, athletic programs, and other extra
curricular activities. VRMS athletic teams include softball, football,
golf, track, basketball, soccer, and baseball. VRMS also has an
academic team and sponsors including 14 clubs: 4-H, Art, Book, Chess,
Cooking, Garden, History, Math, Science, and others.
